If you want to experience Athens like a local, join us on an insider's tour of some of the best eating and drinking Athens has to offer. Skip the tourist traps and enjoy a world renowned cafe, a local microbrewery and a wine tasting with an early dinner pairing. All while enjoying a walk in the heart of the city, just minutes from the Acropolis. We start our experience by visiting The Underdog, a multiple times award winning roasting company that doesn't negotiate quality. As they say ‘Speciality Coffee is their blood type!’ We will taste and compare two specialty espressos side by side, both originating from a farm in Costa Rica, but only one treated with their signature ‘Underdog fermentation process’! You will understand what this is all about upon tasting. We move on to a true zero waste delicacy, a Cascara Lemonade, made by the (up to recently widely discarded) peel of the coffee cherry, and an espresso Panna Cotta, the famous Italian dessert teased with Costa Rican coffee! Our next destination is only a short walk away! One of Athens’ most established and respected microbreweries, for an insiders’ tour and a tasting of 3 beers from their main and constantly rotating seasonal etiquettes, under the friendly guidance of the people behind these special beers. Their processes and their attitude are unique, as are their beers! Then, onward to the tours’ wine bar, Oinoscent! There we sample some of Greeces’ finest wines. The owner and manager Aris Sklavenitis, recognised as one of the top sommeliers in Greece (Best Sommelier 2016/2019/2023) and his team will take you through the country’s rich winemaking tradition and provide you with insights regarding the local varietals gaining international acclaim. At the same time we enjoy an extensive wine tasting session led by the sommeliers. More specifically they guide us through 5 different varieties and major Greek wine producing regions. We sample the world renowned Assyrtiko and the local “heroes”, the crisp white Moschofilero, the robust red Agiorgitiko, the bold Xinomavro and the sweet Moschato paired with a variety of local cheeses and cold cuts. This is where our tour comes to an end, but after our goodbyes you are truly in the heart of the city, where you can continue your night elsewhere or spend more time in this friendly environment trying more wines and enjoying a full dinner!
